This is an interstate jointly-owned trail system, located in the Town of St. Joseph and the cities of Oak Park Heights, MN  and Stillwater, MN.   In Wisconsin the St. Croix County trailhead  is located on Houlton School Circle and Haggerty Street in Houlton, WI.

On the Wisconsin side, the Town of St. Joseph, is the hub of this bicycle and pedestrian trail which  traverses both the Historic Stillwater Lift Bridge and the St. Croix River Crossing. In Houlton, Wisconsin,  the 4.7-mile loop features the St. Croix County trailhead;  parking lots; ten interpretive panels; a Lake St. Croix Overlook; the St. Croix Valley Art Bench, Houlton Hawk Landing.  This trail system connects to trails in greater Minnesota and Wisconsin.  All segments of the St. Croix River Crossing Loop Trail  opened  in May 2020.
